What is PE Foam?
Polyethylene foam (PE foam) is a low cost foam that’s resilient to chemicals and water, and industrially recyclable.
Like most foam, polyethylene foam is made from plastic. However, a common misconception is that foam made from plastic is the same as a solid piece of plastic.
Polyethylene foam is made from polyethylene plastic, which is formed into pellets and put through a blowing agent until it expands. So while polyethylene plastic is the base, the foam produced from it is not the same density, weight or rigidity. The plastic base of PE foam also lends it unique properties - it can be heat bonded and recycled because it’s made of polyethylene.
